Synopsis:
Set in Zenith, Kansas -- population 30 -- this documentary tells the story of an amateur outdoor Easter drama, "The Great Plains Passion Play." It follows stories of desperation and transformation behind the stoic, charismatic farmers who play Jesus and his disciples. The passion play's archetypal imagery becomes a metaphor for the sacrifice, resurrection, and rebirth of the American farmer.
