Billy Ray Cyrus walked the red carpet solo in his first public appearance after news broke of his divorce — but it was Gwyneth Paltrow who dominated headlines the morning after the Country Music Awards.

The Oscar-winning actress made her live singing debut onstage in Nashville Wednesday to a packed house, including actress Nicole Kidman, who was shown applauding the performance.

Paltrow joked that she quelled her pre-show nerves by downing a glass of Guiness at a bar across the street from the Bridgestone Arena.

Her performance has been called “sweet” and “serviceable” by online critics.
