Twilight sequels aren't the only vampire casting game in Hollywood. Entertainment Weekly reports that Evan Rachel Wood will appear as a vampire queen on HBO's True Blood toward the end of its second season.
The pale and ethereal-looking Wood is definitely believeable as a vampire, and she has real-life experience hanging around with rather ghoulish characters (see: Marilyn Manson). She'll play Sophie-Anne, a 500-year-old vampire from France who is "charming, wily, ruthless and wise," according to EW. The character was 15 or 16 when she became a vampire; Wood is 22.
It's a far cry from Wood's last gig on series television, when she starred as a precocious tween on the ABC drama Once and Again. The scariest thing her character had to battle on that show was an eating disorder.
Wood is reportedly set to appear in two episodes of True Blood during the upcoming season, and may return if the show is renewed for a third season.
