President Barack Obama revealed breaking news on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Thursday: The White House dog will be in place around the first week of April.
"That was a campaign promise" to daughters Sasha and Malia, Obama said. "The dog will be there shortly."
It was among the lighter moments in Obama's appearance on Leno, the first time a sitting president has granted a late-night talk show interview. The President jokingly compared being in office to being judged on American Idol, "except everyone's Simon Cowell."
Leno asked some hard-hitting questions to the President, including: "How cool is it to fly on Air Force One?"
"I personally think it's pretty cool," Obama replied. "Especially since they give you the jacket with the seal on it."
Obama also addressed serious matters such as the economy, slamming AIG for awarding bonuses to executives after receiving government bailout funds.
In a potentially controversial moment, Obama likened his bowling skills to the Special Olympics. He later apologized before the show aired.
Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
