The passengers get increasingly concerned about the safety of the ship. Mr Prettiman and Miss Granham get married. Summers asks Edmund to become a midshipman. Edmund discovers that they are heading towards ice and the ship appears to be doomed. Captain Anderson manages to turn the ship around, just in time. Despite all the hazards the ship finally reaches shore. Edmund puts in a good word and Summers is promoted to Captain. Edmund is reunited with Marion.
