Synopsis:
Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer co-anchor public television's national news program. In October 1995, Robert MacNeil stepped down as co-anchor of the nightly newscast. Originally a half-hour program (as "The MacNeil/Lehrer Report"), the format expanded to one hour in 1983 (as "The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour"), making it America's only nightly hour of national evening news.
