Lauren Conrad continues to defy the laws of celebrity and common sense: The 22-year-old reality star and aspiring fashion designer has inked a book deal. Yes. LC is now writing fiction, which I suppose is a step up from filming a fictional TV show and calling it reality, which is what she does on The Hills.
Publisher HarperCollins has somehow been duped into believing that Lauren has not one, but three books in her -- enough for a young-adult series loosely based on her own life. Unfortunately, the title Gossip Girl has already been taken.
The fledgling author has reportedly been consulting Hills co-star Lo Bosworth with ideas for her debut novel. Ghostwriter alert! Let's be honest -- when does Lauren have time to write a book, what with her busy schedule of filming her reality show, bar-hopping, shopping, and designing a dress for the Emmys?
Meantime, in the same bizarro universe, Audrina Patridge is apparently a real-life actress. The most vapid character on The Hills -- and that's saying a lot -- will guest-star on two Fox shows next week. First, she turns up as a hotel guest on the new comedy Do Not Disturb Sept. 16, then spoofs herself on MADtv Sept. 20.
