Five or so years after MTV invaded Lauren Conrad's high school to film Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, Conrad is a bonafide celebrity. Her fame, career and endorsements were all launched by the teen docu-drama and then heightened by her own reality show, The Hills. In short: Conrad was plucked from obscurity and became famous simply for living her life on camera. And not just famous, but the kind of celeb that sends entertainment reporters into a frenzy.

So as she embarks on her last season of The Hills tonight, we take a look at Lauren's ups and downs on our Film.com Fever Chart.

Lauren gains attention in season one of Laguna Beach for being on the losing end of a love triangle with Stephen Coletti and Kristin Cavallari. While she never won the boy, the situation did make for compelling reality TV. Temperature: 87 degrees.

A fan favorite after one season of Laguna Beach, Lauren gets her own show on MTV, where she shares an apartment with Heidi Montag, a friend from fashion school. Temperature: 107 degrees.

With mere weeks of secondary schooling under her belt, Lauren scores an internship at Teen Vogue. A huge deal for an aspiring fashion designer (even if she did spend most of her time twirling her hair and steaming dresses). Temperature: 90 degrees.

Secured a deal as spokesmodel for mark, a line of makeup and accessories for young women from Avon. It ain't exactly Cover Girl, but then again, she's not as big a star as Ellen DeGeneres or Queen Latifah, either. Temperature: 85 degrees.

Lauren gave up a summer internship opportunity in Paris to move into a beach-side condo with boyfriend Jason Wahler. They broke up soon after. Temperature: 40 degrees.

After rumors surfaced about an alleged sex tape Lauren made with Jason, she was the hottest topic among entertainment reporters everywhere. And, as scandals do, it also piqued the interest of people who hadn't previously seen The Hills. Temperature: 120 degrees.

Sex tape rumors were traced back to her former bestie, Heidi, and her boyfriend, Spencer Pratt. Never had there been a more lengthy, widely publicized feud/media frenzy amongst nobodies. This hot streak has only recently been matched by the fallout from the most recent Bachelor program. Temperature: 130 degrees.

Briefly dated Spencer's former best friend Brody Jenner in a relationship that seemed doomed from the start. Temperature: 65 degrees.

Got into a skirmish with longtime friend Jen Bunney, because Jen kissed Brody (with the encouragement of Heidi and Spencer) shortly after they'd broken up. Temperature: 70 degrees.

Averaging 4.7 million viewers, The Hills premiered to its largest audience ever in March, 2008. It was the most-watched program for all viewers aged 12-34, and the highest rated cable telecast of 2008 for the first quarter of the year. Temperature: 115 degrees.

Called "simple," "wearable" and "boring," among other things, Lauren's first fashion show at L.A. Fashion Week was met with lukewarm to cold reviews. She wouldn't last three weeks on Project Runway. Temperature: 55 degrees.

Starred with Brody Jenner in a cell phone commercial for LG Shine, in which we learn that the phone's reflective surface is good for checking your makeup and watching girls' butts as they walk past. Temperature: 85 degrees.

Scored a three-book deal with HarperCollins to pen fiction books for young adults loosely based on her life. Aspiring authors are likely jealous, as Lauren can barely complete a sentence on The Hills. Temperature: 107 degrees.

Wore her own dress design to the Emmys, which did nothing for her figure and was so unmemorable we had to Google it to remember what it looked like. Temperature: 28 degrees.

Entertainment Weekly scores The Hills No. 82 on its list, The New Classics: The Best 100 Shows of the Last 25 Years. They called it "one of the most addictive, hated, beloved, vapid, influential, successful shows on television." Temperature: 105 degrees.

She's been quietly dating actor Kyle Howard -- off camera -- for months. Both have kept mum on the relationship. Under those circumstances and time constraints, it's gotta be hard to keep things afloat, let alone thriving, and we think that's kinda hot. Temperature: 98 degrees.

Lauren was ranked No. 56 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2008 list, one notch higher than Taylor Swift, but not quite as hot as Kristen Bell. Not bad. Temperature: 100 degrees.

You can understand a young woman wanting a personal life that isn't in the public eye, but Lauren's decision to leave The Hills -- the thing that's catapulted her to the front of tabloid covers -- could take her off the radar. Temperature: 50 degrees.

Due to the current economy, she's putting her clothing line on hold for the foreseeable future. Is it just us, or is it getting awfully chilly in Lauren-land? Better get a blanket. Temperature: 40 degrees.
