The Hills Recap: Holly Betrays Heidi, Justin and Audrina Kiss and Make Up
Holly Montag defects from Team Speidi and moves into Lauren's house.

This week there is some self-realization and thank god for the scriptwriters for introducing it. Shall we get into it? At People's Revolution: Whitney, with some nasty frizzy burned-out hair, tells Lauren she's been keeping in touch with the Australian musician guy she met in New York last week, and she can't wait to fly out there to see him. Ah, the life of the rich, where you can afford a cross-continental booty call. Lauren's had enough of hearing about other people and tells her that Holly, Heidi's sister, has been crashing with them since Spencer and Heidi kicked her out. Soooo ... where has Holly been? That episode was a while ago. I am imagining her living on the streets of Hollywood selling herself to support Stephanie's crystal meth habit. Now there's a show I'd watch. After the credits, we're at Venice Beach, where Justin lives. I love Venice Beach! Audrina keeps claiming that it's "beautiful," which, I don't know if that is how I would describe VB. At least not in the way she means it. Justin mumbles something about going to Mexico and of course Audrina takes it practically as a wedding proposal. They sit on the beach and wait, what is this? Justin is being assertive and clearly spelling out his thoughts? He claims that he feels more at home in Venice and not so much when he is at Audrina's so he'd rather both live where they feel comfortable. Although he does call it "Zenful." (I'd love to hear Justin's understanding of Buddhist concepts.) Wow! That kind of explains Justin's whole raison d'etre, and it took two seasons. Here's a slow clap for you, producers of the show. Back in the house that shameless bought, Heidi is busying herself with Lauren's favorite past time: organizing and folding her clothes. Spencer wants to go to the movies, and Heidi does not want to and it erupts into a fight where Heidi tells Spencer that he had a part in getting her fired and that he doesn't seem to even care. Wow! What is with people and being assertive? It's kind of blowing my mind. Spencer, the master of spousal abuse, turns it around on her and makes her feel bad that she is expressing these things and stomps out of the room. The look on Heidi's face is actually heartbreaking. Even when the new foundation she is using makes her look very pink. Lauren and Audrina go out for a drink and giggle about how when they get together and go out, they are totally "trouble." If you mean staring blankly at each other and talking about Lauren's boring life, okay, call that trouble. They talk about Justin and Holly and it's nothing new. Seriously, the producers can't even find enough interesting materials to cover 22 minutes so we get the same convo in different settings. At Chez Audrina, Aud is talking to her sister Casey about how she is trying to get her apartment set up. It kind of looks like it was styled by Jennifer Convertibles. Casey, who I can only describe as having, um ... severe features tries to knock some sense into Audrina by telling her Justin is controlling the relationship and Audrina is just willing to go along with whenever Justin is in the mood to see her. Audrina shrugs and closes the conversation with "I love him." Casey looks on sadly. Me too, Casey, me too. Heidi goes to see Sam, her ex-boss and project manager for Bolthouse. Sam has his computer monitor completely turned out for the cameras to see, like, we needed to see the "sbe" logo. Heidi does her usual groveling, and Sam can't believe he agreed to be part of these shenanigans. He tells Heidi he's not going to do another meeting like this and gives her one more chance at a new opening. And he doesn't want to hear anything. All the progress done on this show is lost for me because my god, Heidi gets yet another chance? I am too defeated to even get worked up about it. Lauren is at the lounge at FIDM on her laptop. Stephanie comes in and says she's worried about their final. Why? The final asks questions on collecting fabric, cutting up magazines, and typing words on a keyboard. Seriously. Lauren can barely take her eyes away from her computer, probably reading TMZ to see if she's mentioned, to listen to Stephanie, except to talk about herself and tell her Holly is crashing with her. There's a cloud of smoke behind her as Stephanie runs to Chez Speidi to give the gossip. Heidi is obviously hurt she has now lost her sister. Spencer almost has fire coming out of his ears and hears the news and starts to badmouth Holly, calling her mother "stalker mom" and ... I can't even explain it, but my god, he is good at manipulating things. In a sick way, I'm impressed at his skills. I think Heidi has a breakthrough. She has had enough and tells him that he is pushing people away from her, and treating her like crap. Thank you Heidi, those hair extensions and thick foundation may be acting as armor for her. At Chez L & L Holly is talking about her brief stint at Chez Speidi, and Lo, putting in an appearance and getting her meal ticket this week, asks if Spencer was outright mean to her. Holly, just discovering the Thesaurus, tells her: "Openly and unabashedly." Holly and the girls talk about how Spencer is trying to isolate her by separating her from everyone she loves. If the abuser walks like a duck ... Justin and Audrina are out to dinner at what looks like the same dark place they always are, and Justin bought her a shirt, which looks like a white rag, and tells her "no bras with that, thank you." And I had to laugh. Justin can be somewhat funny when he is not drunk/hungover/trying to spout of Buddhist rhetoric. The happy couple toast to a life together of unbalanced commitment to each other.
