The Hills are alive ... without Lauren Conrad.
MTV confirmed today that The Hills will continue this fall without its star, who chose to leave the popular series after five seasons. Conrad, 22, has spent the past five years sharing her personal life with MTV cameras, starting with her starring role on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which spun off into The Hills.

The Hills villains (and newlyweds!) Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will likely take over starring roles on the show, along with returning cast members Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt. MTV also plans to add "fresh faces" to the series.
Meantime, aspiring designer Conrad recently announced she will create a fashion line for budget department store Kohls.
