The Bachelorette season finale is upon us (ABC, Monday 8 p.m.), and ads have been teasing yet another shocking conclusion. While this might seem like standard hype, who is going to bet against them at this stage? The franchise has been riding a wave of climaxes that, contrived or not, have gotten people talking and arguing. If Jillian Harris were to announce that she is not into either Kiptyn or Ed and instead is going to marry a caribou, I would find that completely believable.

Before Jillian accepts (or doesn't) a proposal, we will see the traditional meeting with the parents, who went through this when Jillian was on The Bachelor. There is also rumored to be some last-minute drama, which may have something to do with a past contestant (could it be Wes?) deciding not to take no for an answer. I am no expert on what women like to see in men, but I'm thinking that Jillian is probably going to go with Ed, because if she's still into the guy despite all the evidence that he is one giant dork, there has to be true love at work.

Also this week:

Tuesday: Deadliest Catch (Discovery, 9 p.m.): It's the end of Opilio crab season, which means the vessels are heading into Dutch Harbor till 2010. The boats that are still looking to meet quota attempt to hold out against a major storm, which brings numerous Mayday calls and a serious rescue attempt made by the Coast Guard.

Wednesday: Top Chef Masters (Bravo, 10 p.m.): The championship round begins with the final six believing that they are going to be asked to cook their signature dishes, but a monkey wrench is thrown into the mix. I had my doubts that this show could hold the appeal of regulation Top Chef, as all of these chefs are well established, but it's been a decent summer diversion.

Thursday: Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo, 10 p.m.): The second season begins with the introduction of new housewife Kandi, a onetime recording artist. Sheree commemorates her divorce by throwing a giant party, Kim reveals a new moneymaking idea, and Lisa ponders an addition to her family. Look for the drama to be ramped up -- these ladies have no intention of being left behind.

Friday: Catch It Keep It (Science, 10 p.m.): This week on the series which asks engineers to come up with ways to keep a valuable prize from being destroyed, it's a challenge dear to my heart: a year's supply of beer is being threatened by powerful explosives sitting only inches away. Save the beer, win the beer. Incentives don't get much bigger.

Saturday: Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith (Hallmark, 9 p.m.): It's been forty years since Cybill Shepherd dropped her top in The Last Picture Show, and here she is reliving those days of debauchery. Shepherd stars as a newly divorced woman who returns to college, finding conflict with a young roommate and possible love with her poetry professor. Isn't that the only reason anyone becomes a poetry professor to begin with?

Sunday: Hung (HBO, 10 p.m.): Ray has a hard time going through with a client's role-playing idea; Tanya reluctantly agrees to date the stiff Floyd; newly swollen with cash, Ray promises to come up with a car for his frustrated kids. Don't worry; I'm not going to do this every time I write about Hung.
