The Bachelor has landed. ABC has announced the 14th season of the hit reality series, starring pilot Jake Pavelka, will premiere Jan. 4, 2010, which means he must be busily handing out roses as we speak.

Pavelka, who was man enough to cry -- repeatedly -- while wooing Jillian Harris on The Bachelorette, is hokey enough to have inspired perhaps the most ingenious subtitle of a Bachelor season yet: The Bachelor: On The Wings of Love. And you thought An Officer and A Gentleman was bad.

For the first time in the history of the series, The Bachelor will be broadcast in HDTV format with stereo sound, which means you can see up close and personal if those are real tears.

Though fans of other, more popular Bachelor contenders -- Reeeeeeid!!! -- have publicly refused to watch this season of The Bachelor in protest, let's be honest, we'll all be watching in the privacy of our homes.
