Take Me Home: The John Denver Story

Synopsis:
Television movie based on the life of singer-actor John Denver, who died in a plane crash in October 1997. Based on John Denver's autobiography "Take Me Home," as well as material from his first wife Annie Martell Denver, his children and business associates Milt Okun and Hal Thau. At age 21, John Denver dropped out of college and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a singer/songwriter, against the wishes of his father, Dutch, a conservative Air Force pilot. Denver was soon singing in local clubs and on college campuses. He met Annie, his first wife and the woman for whom he would write "Annie's Song," at a college concert. Although they loved each other very much, Denver's years on the road took a toll on their marriage. He was also plagued by his troubled relationship with his father, who had difficulty supporting his son's career choice.
