What2Watch: Desperate Housewives Wraps Up, Now With More Guns

Consensus seems to be that Desperate Housewives had itself a pretty good season, possibly because the writers' strike forced the brass to tighten things up. Things become a little less tight with the season finale (ABC, Sunday, 9 p.m.), which is being stretched to two hours.

The big question all season long has been exactly what sent Katherine (season MVP Dana Delany) into exile, and we are promised that all will be revealed this week. There are hints of a violent end for a character or two (all the firing guns in the promos are certainly suggestive), Susan introduces everyone to her baby, Gaby learns a little more about Ellie, and Lynette might be in trouble for child abuse. The show made a lot of promises about the tornado episode and mostly came through, so Marc Cherry and co. have again earned the benefit of the doubt.

Ghost Whisperer (CBS, tonight, 8): Another year of very cute supernatural hijinks ends as Melinda learns the secret behind her father's disappearance, and why her mother (Anne Archer) kept the knowledge from her.

THS Investigates (E!, tonight, 8): Don't date the wrong person! There are stalkers, con men and liars of all sorts out there. I solve this problem the old fashioned way: by never leaving the house.

Doctor Who (SciFi, tonight, 9): Martha calls the Doctor back to earth to deal with an invading army of Sontarans.

Man Vs. Wild (Discovery, tonight, 9): Bear is dropped off on an uninhabited island in the Indian Ocean that was devastated by the tsunami.

Mobile Home Disaster (CMT, tonight, 9): Now even mobile homes have their own makeover show -- and go figure, it's on CMT. The debut features a California man and his five sons who share a two-bedroom, two-bath tornado magnet. Surprisingly, no one has yet gone insane.

Moonlight (CBS, tonight, 9): This may be another example of a series that lost critical momentum due to the strike and was unable to recover, as the clock strikes midnight for Moonlight with this episode. A vampire kills accidentally, attracting the attention of police and threatening the secrecy of Mick and Josef. The saving grace here is that no one in this very-good-looking cast will be out of work for long.

Battlestar Galactica (SciFi, tonight, 10): Slowly but surely, the first half of the final season is winding down. Tonight, Athena has some new concerns about Six's interest in Hera, and the Lee/Laura tension develops further.

Numb3rs (CBS, tonight, 10): The season finale finds Megan having second thoughts about her job, quite a coincidence since the actress who plays her, Diane Farr, is leaving the series. Also, Charlie and Don argue when one of Charlie's colleagues is suspected of terrorist ties.

America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back (Fox, Saturday, 9 p.m.): The show celebrates -- I guess that's the right word -- the 1000th bad guy captured after being featured.

Groomer Has It (Animal Planet, Saturday, 9 p.m.): The groomers have the task of creating their own doggie treats, and are then told they have to help their mutts try them out. There's always a catch ...

Robin Hood (BBC America, Saturday, 9 p.m.): The sheriff tests a chemical weapon and blames the resulting illnesses on "pestilence," Will and his father disagree on Will's future.

Mad TV (Fox, Saturday, 11 p.m.): Dave Navarro guests in the show's latest parody of 24. I'd write more, but there's no time for that now!

Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday, 11:30 p.m.): The season finale finds Steve Carell of The Office (and soon to star in Get Smart) hosting, and Usher as the musical guest.

Everybody Hates Chris (CW, Sunday, 8 p.m.): Season finale: As Chris prepares to leave junior high, he wonders if he can find the money to go to the same elite high school as his friend Greg; Rochelle orders Drew to help Tonya with ballet practice.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC, Sunday, 8 p.m.): The two-part season finale concludes with Ty and the gang finishing up their work in New Orleans; the Ten Tenors, whose motto is "Ten is seven more than three, mwahahahaha!," put on a show.

43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards (CBS, Sunday, 8 p.m.): I was just thinking we hadn't had a country music awards show in a while ... Reba McEntire hosts; Garth Brooks is feted, and Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Taylor (I'm Not Carrie Underwood) Swift, and Trace Adkins are among the performers at the MGM Grand in down home Las Vegas.

The Simpsons (Fox, Sunday, 8 p.m.): Season finale: Lisa gets a gig as the new assistant to Krusty the Klown and becomes a sensation.

Aliens in America (CW, 8:30, p.m.): Last ever episode: Raja's crush on one of the few Muslim girls in town results in an elaborately produced date; Justin responds to his friend's success with the ladies by asking out a weirdo. This show had a little promise, but there apparently weren't enough blonde girls in the cast to interest the new CW.

King of the Hill (Fox, Sunday, 8:30 p.m.): Season finale: Luanne's father (voiced by Johnny Knoxville) is let out of prison, but immediately begins doing the things that get you thrown back into prison.

Carlos Mencia: Performance Enhanced (Comedy Central, Sunday, 9 p.m.): The latest hour of stand-up from the caustic comic, presumably without a Joe Rogan walk-on.

Celebracadabra (VH1, Sunday, 9 p.m.): The magical moonlighters entertain the residents of a retirement community.

Mystery of the Crystal Skulls (SciFi, Sunday, 9 p.m.): I thought Lester Holt was still on the fast track, but possibly not since he got sucked into hosting this special, a look at the mythology surrounding a group of Mayan skulls that allegedly contain magical powers.

The Game (CW, Sunday, 9 p.m.): Season finale: Derwin and Jerome square off over Melanie; Jason tries to attract the attention of the new team owner; Malik wants to commit to Robin Givens.

The Tudors (Showtime, Sunday, 9 p.m.): Henry insists Jane become a new lady-in-waiting, and Anne is savvy enough to know what that means; Henry wonders if an alliance might be possible with the Emperor Charles V.

American Dad (Fox, Sunday, 9:30 p.m.): The season ends with the Smith marriage in trouble, and Stan becoming intrigued with a college girl who is among those Roger has invited over for spring break.

Ax Men (History, Sunday, 10 p.m.): These poor guys have had a rough year if this series is any indication, and now they're being hammered by the worst Oregon storm in decades.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians (E!, Sunday, 10 p.m.): Season finale: Reggie Bush invites the sisters to New Orleans for a charity event, and they are shaken by the devastation that still exists there. I'd urge them to stay and pitch in, but I think the city has suffered enough.

Viva Hollywood (VH1, Sunday, 10 p.m.): Daisy Fuentes, who is definitely aging well, teaches the remaining wannabes the secrets of seduction.

Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane (Style, Sunday, 11 p.m.): Kimora shoots a perfume ad and develops an environmental conscience. Which means what -- she's not going to keep the limo idling anymore?
