The Ultimate Fighter 7: Muah Ha Ha, Rampage Is In Control
Spike TV
There were two decent fights on The Ultimate Fighter 7 last night. Rampage started the night in control and he let us know it. He was so funny with his "In Control" bit. He even had a special in-control laugh ... muah ha ha. I love his sense of humor and his asides, but I'm really not impressed with his coaching. During the matches, I can hear Forrest and his staff teaching, but I just hear Rampage yelling at his guys to get up, or just yelling encouragement. Don't get me wrong, encouragement is good, but these kids are green and need more than that. The first fight was Gerald Harris of Team Rampage versus Amir Sadollah of Team Forrest. Gerald didn't make too much of an impression on me during the fight-ins, but I was impressed by Amir. Rampage really likes Gerald, calling him "Mini Me." The line of the night goes to Rampage again. After sparring with him, Rampage asked Gerald, "Do I owe you money? Cuz you kicked my ass like I stole something." He cracks me up. Even Amir seemed intimidated by Gerald's fighting style, which is body slamming and ground and pound. Forrest made a side bet with Amir, to motivate him more. If Amir won the fight, Forrest would shave half his head for the rest of the season. Round one was all Gerald. He had some really brutal body slams. He picked poor Amir up, threw him over his shoulder, and body slammed him like Amir was a little rag doll. I cringed watching. But Amir took that lickin' and kept on tickin'. Most of that round was on the ground with the ground and pound. Round one to Gerald. Round two, however, was a different story. Amir was much better in countering Gerald's moves and he was becoming much more active. Amir landed a beauty of a kick to the side of Gerald's head and he was out. Amir won the fight by TKO. Contro went back to Forrest. The second fight of the night was between Cale Yarbrough (Team Forrest) versus Patrick Schultz (Team Rampage). Cale talked down on Patrick because he doesn't think Patrick belongs there. If you recall, Patrick lost the fight-in and is only there because of the Herpes outbreak. Rampage totally disrespected Cale saying that his mama could beat him. Both these fighters are stand-up fighters, or strikers, and consider themselves entertaining. Round one went to Cale, even though Patrick had a very good knockdown. The fight was pretty much all stand up until about two minutes left in the round when Cale took Patrick down. By the end of the round, Patrick looked kind of gassed and I thought he was saved by the bell. Round two was all Cale. He dominated Patrick on the ground for the majority of the round. Rampage thought that there would be a third round, thinking that Patrick took round one with his knockdown. He was really ticked when the decision went to Cale and Team Forrest. Team Forrest has dominated the preliminary matches 6-1. I'm not surprised at all, as I thought that Forrest had the better fighters. Rampage is thoroughly disgusted and frustrated at his team's lack of victories and after the second fight he made some comments toward Forrest that their fight wasn't gonna go to a decision. Forrest had enough and snapped back. Dana remarked that his two class clowns were behaving like Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz. They didn't show that, thank goodness. But Rampage did lose his cool. Next week on The Ultimate Fighter 7, there is more negativity between the coaches, the last preliminary bout will be shown and the quarterfinal matches will be set. They showed a scene in which Forrest plays a practical joke on Rampage, so hopefully the clowns will be back.
