The Hills: Since When Is Audrina Cooler Than Lauren?
MTV
I'm not saying I'm converting to Team Heidi, but Lauren is starting to appear less likeable every week. She's driving another roomie/BFF away, and this time, it really is mostly her fault. Last night's episode began with Audrina issuing a fun-sounding invitation to Lauren and Lo to join her at a recording studio where she'd be listening in on the band Alkaline Trio as they recorded songs for their new album. This was a work assignment for Audrina, and it seemed like kind of a big deal. She was clearly excited to invite her friends to share in the experience. Lauren promised they'd stop by and suggested going out to dinner afterwards to celebrate the new house. But the second Audrina was out of earshot, Lo snidely remarked "I just want to go shopping." I could feel my respect for Lo plummeting down as she smugly laid back in her sun chair and giggled over her own cleverness. Doesn't she realize the fans love her because she doesn't come off as vapid as the others? Maybe spending so much time with Lauren is starting to kill off her brain cells. Lauren and Lo did stop by the recording studio, where Audrina and her co-worker buddy Chiara were having fun bopping along to the music, but the other two girls were way too cool for it all. They didn't even stay to hear a full song, and spent their time giggling together and sending text messages. When Lo announced she was hungry, the two made a hasty exit to go get sushi, and had the nerve to feel slighted that Audrina wouldn't join them, despite the fact that she was AT HER JOB! Isn't this the type of thing that Heidi would've done back in season one or two that would've totally ticked Lauren off? At dinner, which took place at a really cool-looking restaurant called Luckyfish where you choose your dishes off a conveyor belt, the girls talked about how Audrina was drifting away from them and keeping to herself. They agreed that maybe she felt left out, given Lauren and Lo's long history together. Their solution to the problem? Buy her a "Chateau Audrina" sign for her guest house. I'm sure that will solve everything! The next roommate activity that Lauren and Lo excluded Audrina from was the adoption of their new puppy, Chloe. The look on Audrina's face was full of pain as she listened to her two roommates gush about how the puppy would have "two mommies," but the other girls were totally oblivious to their own insensitivity. I was seriously almost relieved when Justin Bobby dropped by (or woke up in?) the house for breakfast, just because it was so obvious Audrina needed someone to talk to. He suggested that she look at other apartments, and I can't blame her for agreeing with him. Maybe she could room with Spencer! He found himself homeless in this episode after Stephanie finally kicked him out of her apartment. Or maybe he decided to move out because she was annoying him. Since he was being his usual domineering self, and Stephanie was being her usual wishy-washy self, it was hard to tell who got their way in that argument. Despite having "broken up" in the last episode, Spencer decided if he couldn't live with Stephanie, he was going to go back to his old apartment and live with Heidi. There was just one problem: Heidi was missing! She'd taken off on a business trip to Vegas, and there was a possibility she might be relocating there for good. Stephanie knew all this, but was sworn to secrecy. I'm sure there will be drama in next week's season finale when Spencer finds out his sister kept this secret from him, but I really don't care. Heidi and Spencer are hunted by the paparazzi on a daily basis, and make no effort to conceal the fact that they're clearly still together, if they ever even broke up in the first place. But what else do you think will happen as season three concludes next week? Will Audrina strike out on her own? Will Lauren and Lo exchange friendship bracelets? And will we ever see Whitney again?
