Two couples were eliminated. Were the couples on the bottom of the Leaderboard saved by America's vote?

Last night on Dancing With The Stars one male and one female celebrity were eliminated. The first hour of the two-hour block was simply a recap of Tuesday night's dances. If you missed it, you can read about it here. After spending the entire first hour recapping last night, I was rather nonplussed that they spent the first ten minutes of the second hour recapping the recap.

They finally got around to announcing who got the encore performance. Jason and Edyta got that honor for their awesome mambo. Last night, Bruno declared Jason the "Mambo King" of the night. I must admit he did look pretty hot.

Then it was time to bring out all the male celebrities and have the first elimination. The first couple pronounced safe was Steve & Anna. Then we were left hanging for a performance by the Jonas Brothers. I had to call my daughter to ask her who the heck these kids were. I guess they are this generation's version of the Osmonds or the Jacksons. Dancing to this first song were Edyta, Anna, Jonathan and Mark.

Back to business with our male celebrities: one by one, they were told that they are safe. First Jason and Edyta, then Mario and Karina and Adam and Julianne were declared safe. The last two couples standing were Penn and Kym and Christian and Cheryl. To no one's surprise, Penn and Kym were eliminated.

After Shannon and Derek were told that they were safe on the women's side, it was time for the Macy's Stars of Dance Performance. It was awesome! The Jacques Heim Dancers performed an aerial dance performance to a Meat Loaf song. Jacques Heim was one of the choreographers for Cirque de Soleil and you could see it in the dance. It was a mix of dance and highflying acrobatics. I'd love to see them on tour.

After another performance by the Jonas Brothers, danced to by Cheryl and Louis, the ladies learned their fates. Declared safe were Marlee and Fabian, Kristi and Mark, and Priscilla and Louis. The last two women celeb/male pro couples standing were Marissa and Tony and Monica and Jonathan. After listening to the judges and waiting until the top of the hour, we finally find out that Monica and Jonathan were eliminated.

I'm not really surprised by either of the eliminations. Monica Seles was clearly out of her element. She did work hard, but Grace was not her middle name. Penn Jillette, while totally hilarious, was not a dancer. He had the showmanship part down, but his big feet just were in the way.

I think that next week the couples most in danger on Dancing With The Stars are Marissa and Tony, Adam and Julianne, and Steve and Anna. They'll have to battle the Jive or the Tango to keep themselves safe. We'll find out if they're successful the same time next week. Until then, catch y'all later.
