TV Addict: Project Runway Gets Interesting, Only Not Onscreen

Project Runway's offscreen drama escalates; plus, former Bachelorette Jen Schefft gets engaged.

Finally! Something interesting is happening to Project Runway. Sadly, it's not happening onscreen, where this snoozefest of a season continues to limp to the finish line. Despite a cavalcade of A-List guest judges, season five of Runway just didn't make it work. Even J-Lo knows it -- she begged out of the season finale at the last minute claiming a foot injury. Interesting that she managed to complete a triathlon in Malibu the next day.

Now comes a juicy unexpected twist in the ongoing legal drama behind the scenes of Bravo's biggest hit show, which is (was?) en route to a new home on Lifetime next season. Even the suits at NBC Universal were reportedly surprised by a New York court's decision to block Project Runway from moving to Lifetime and marketing its sixth season on that network. I'm probably breaking some law just by writing about it.

Of course, it's not over till it's over. Project Runway has already started filming its next season in Los Angeles -- with Lindsay Lohan as a guest judge, how very Hollywood -- and The Weinstein Company (which owns the show) is expected to appeal the decision when the parties meet next month. Hey, can we get some reality TV cameras in that room? Let's bring the drama back to Project Runway!

Speaking of big news happening off-camera, former Bachelor/Bachelorette star Jen Schefft is engaged. Hurrah! Jen became the poster child for America's lovelorn after breaking off her Bachelor engagement to Andrew Firestone in 2003, then failing to find love on her follow-up stint on The Bachelorette. Schefft announced her engagement to a Chicago trader the same week her ex-fiance dropped the news that he and his new Eastern European-model-wife are expecting. Not that it's a contest or anything, but Firestone is definitely winning.

Speaking of winners:

The Hills
Stephanie consults Audrina for advice when Lauren's ex-fling asks her out to dinner, conveniently when Lauren is out of the country. Stephanie: "How would she find out?" Audrina: "I don't know..." Really? I mean, it's not like there are cameras around or anything. (10 p.m. Mondays, MTV)

America's Next Top Model
Isis frets about his/her man-parts coming undone during an underwater photo shoot: "I never really did the pool thing with a bikini bottom on." I'm all for gender equality, but maybe Tyra should have thought of this before bending her No Boys Allowed rule? Isis gets eliminated later, saving everyone the discomfort of the eventual nude photo shoot. (8 p.m. Wednesdays, The CW)

Project Runway
The designers are tasked with creating outfits for each other inspired by music genres. Kenley designs a hip-hop look involving slim, high-waisted jeans and a floral top, which is apparently what hip-hop artists wore in the 1950s. The look is best summed up by guest judge LL Cool J: "No." (9 p.m. Wednesdays, Bravo)

The Rachel Zoe Project
Sample dialogue: Rachel: "You wanna do Starbucks run?" Brad: "Yup." Rachel: "Do you know the drill? Double bag, drop of half-and-half, three Splenda." Brad: "I so know it." Rachel: "I love it." And, scene! This was actually a nice change of pace from Rachel Zoe's stock four phrases, which include: "I'd die." "Shut up right now." "You look bananas amazing." "Shut. It. Down." (10 p.m. Tuesdays, Bravo)

The Cho Show
Margaret returns to her hometown of San Francisco to accept the honor of Margaret Cho Day from Mayor Gavin Newsom: "You are shockingly hot. ... Also straight, which is like, OMG, he's like a unicorn." A unicorn who had an affair with the wife of one of his top advisers and went to rehab, but anyway. (11 p.m. Thursdays, VH1)
