After months of speculation, ABC will finally announce the new Bachelor on Oct. 13.

But you’ll have to tune into another ABC reality show to be first to know: the announcement will be made during an episode of Dancing With the Stars. I’m guessing we’ll see either Kiptyn or Reid sitting in the audience that evening, and Tom Bergeron will sidle up to him for an awkward interview.

ABC has milked this secret for all its worth. Since the last season of The Bachelorette ended in July, fans have been campaigning for their favorite Bachelorette castoffs to be crowned next Bachelor. So far, the favorites are handsome but dull Kiptyn, lovable but not studly Reid, and annoyingly smarmy Jake.
