The actor will replace outgoing stars Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton on the CW series, which enters its seventh season this fall. Fan support has saved the show from the brink of cancellation several times, but it remains to be seen how the departure of its original stars will affect ratings.
Buckley, 28, is best known for playing the boy toy of Kim Raver's character on NBC's cancelled Lipstick Jungle. He'll join One Tree Hill as Clayton, a sports agent who represents Nathan Scott (James Lafferty). Brian Austin Green of Terminator: SCC was reportedly also considered for the role.
