Once Upon A Time’s Happy Ending

No surprises here, as it was the most watched freshman drama of the season, but ABC has renewed Once Upon a Time for a second season just in time for the first season finale. Co-creator Adam Horowitz broke the news early Thursday evening over Twitter, saying:

Fans of the fairy tale series (myself included) eagerly await Sunday’s finale, titled “A Land Without Magic,” which Horowitz and fellow creator Edward Kitsis have promised is going to be a doozy. In an interview with TV Line earlier this week, Horowitz noted that the episode’s ending would be game-changing and mind-blowing: “Our hope is that in those final moments, there is a combination of satisfaction and also intense surprise.” Kitsis continued, “The emotion you’ll be feeling is, “Holy, holy, holy s—t.” Hopefully the actual story can live up to those intense promises.

Also renewed by ABC are returning sitcoms Modern Family, The Middle, and the surprise hit Suburgatory, along with ABC faves Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, and Dancing With the Stars, which is rumored to have an all-star season in the works. The fates of other ABC shows Happy Endings, Don’t Trust the B— in Apt. 23, and Private Practice are still up in the air. (Cougar Town has already been picked up by TBS.)
