Serialized law drama which follows three murder cases from start to finish during the entire season. Each episode also includes a separate legal story with a beginning, middle and end. Set in Los Angeles.

During the 1996-97 season, several murder cases are played out over the course of the season. The first case involves the assassination of the Governor of California and his mistress.

The second case involves a basketball superstar accused of murdering his team's owner.

In the third case, controversy rages in and outside the firm when Wyler & Associates defends a serial killer who flaunts his responsibility for the cold-blooded murders of 17 ex-convicts.
