Synopsis:
While grocery shopping for their annual Fourth of July party, Kim learns from the cashier that they have insufficient funds, even though she just deposited her paycheck. Louie tells her he paid the rent early, but he actually blew $300 on an original Frankenstein doll he found on the internet. His friends are baffled ("why would anyone spend $300 on a doll you can't f**k?" asks Rich), and give conflicting advice on whether he should come clean with Kim. When Walter offers to loan him some cash, Louie attempts a cover up, but it quickly unravels, and Kim finds out about the doll. After some alone time with her expletives, she tries to explain away Louie's irresponsible and selfish behavior, suggesting the doll is filling a "void" in his life. Louie dismisses her analysis at first, but then lets her have it when he realizes the alternative (he's "just a lying a**hole") is too bleak. Their friends arrive with pizza and beer, ready to fill their void ...and bring the celebration to them.
