Synopsis:
Caesar, from the Aijira Airways flight 316, sneaks into a room where he finds some maps and a gun. Ilana, the federal marshal from the plane enters and tells him she found a man who appeared from the water. They walk out to the Island's beach where a very much alive John Locke is sitting. Locke notices there are two boats on the beach. Ilana says there was a third boat that was taken by the pilot and another woman. When asked why he's dressed so nicely, Locke says that it was because he died and those were the clothes he was to be buried in. Flashback to Tunisia, where Locke awakes after turning the donkey wheel. He is in great pain and can not move. Although he appears to be in the middle of nowhere, he sees a surveillance camera pointed at him from a telephone pole. Later, a vehicle arrives and he is brought to a hospital. As a doctor treats him, Locke sees Matthew Abbadon watching him. Locke faints from the pain. When he wakes up, Charles Widmore is sitting at his bedside. They talk about how four days ago; Locke met a seventeen year old Widmore for the first time. Widmore says that he was the leader of the Others until he was exiled by Ben. The spot in Tunisia where Locke arrived was the exit point for the Island. Three years have passed. Widmore then explains that Locke needs to bring the Oceanic 6 back to the Island to help with the impending war. He gives Locke a new identity, Jeremy Bentham. He also gives him Abbadon to help drive him around to everyone and provides him with a wheelchair. While driving, Locke asks Abbadon to also help him locate Helen. Locke visits Sayid in Santo Domingo, who refuses to go back. He then finds Walt in New York City, who has been having dreams of Locke. He does not tell Walt that Michael is dead. On his way back to Abbadon's car, we see that Ben is watching. Locke visits Hurley at the mental institution, who at first thinks Locke is a hallucination. Unfortunately, Hurley is frightened by Abbadon and runs away. Back in the car, Locke asks Abbadon who he really is. Abbadon says that he gets people where they need to go, like when he convinced Locke to go on the walkabout that got him to Oceanic flight 815. Next, they visit Kate who also refuses to go. Finally, Abbadon takes Locke to the cemetery where Helen is buried. As they leave, Abbadon is shot and killed. Locke takes the car and speeds away, getting into an accident. He wakes up in Jack's hospital with Jack by his side. Jack refuses to listen to Locke about going back to the Island. Locke says that his father, Christian, says hello. Jack leaves, angry and confused. That night in a hotel room, Locke writes his letter to Jack and is about to hang himself when Ben enters and stops him. Ben admits to killing Abbadon because he believes Widmore wants to use Locke to get back to the Island and be the leader once again. They plan to get the Oceanic 6 back, except for Sun who Locke has promised Jin not to return with. As they are about to leave, Locke tells Ben that Eloise Hawking is the person who is the key to getting back to the Island. Upon hearing this, Ben strangles Locke and kills him. He hangs Locke from the ceiling to make it look like a suicide. Back on the Island, Locke is telling Caesar about the Dharma Initiative and how he was on the Island for over a hundred days. Caesar says that during the flight there was a flash of light and a bunch of people disappeared, including someone he describes that must be Hurley. Locke asks to see a passenger list, but Caesar says the pilot took it. However, he can take Locke to see the people who were injured from the crash. Among the injured, Locke finds Ben. He tells Caesar that Ben is the man who killed him.
