Lost: Because You Left

A man wakes up and starts his morning routine. He is living in the Barracks on the Island. It is Dr. Marvin Candle, and he is filming a Dharma orientation video for the Arrow station, but it is interrupted by a problem in the Orchid Station. Drills are melting due to a strange power source. Candle urges them to stop drilling because they are too close to a chamber that holds the Island's power to manipulate time. One of the technicians listening on is Daniel Faraday. In the future and off the island, Ben and Jack discuss trying to get the Oceanic 6 back to the island, including Locke's dead body. Three years earlier, we see Ben turning the wheel and the Island enveloped in a glowing light. The freighter is suddenly not visible, and the entire camp is gone. Faraday asks for the location of a man-made object, so Juliet suggests the hatch. A frustrated Sawyer makes Faraday explain to him that they are dislodged in time. Locke, who is on his own the middle of the Island, sees a small plane crash. It is Yemi's drug smuggling plane. When Locke goes to investigate, he is shot in the leg by Ethan. Locke tries to reason with him but the sky glows once again and Locke has time-jumped. Back in the future, two lawyers show up at Kate's door asking for blood samples from her and Aaron. Kate tells them to come back with a sheriff, which gives her enough time to pack and run away with Aaron. Meanwhile, Sun is stopped at the airport by Charles Widmore, who is upset that she did not treat him respectfully. She tells him that they both want the same thing - to kill Ben Linus. Sayid takes Hurley from the mental institution, telling him never to trust Ben. They go to a safe house, but it has been compromised. Sayid gets a dart in the back but is still able to kill the two intruders. Unfortunately, someone sees Hurley and takes his picture, thinking he was the killer. On the Island, they find the hatch area, but it hasn't been created yet. Sawyer wants to tell those who stayed back at the camp but Daniel explains that they can not change history. Locke is discovered by Richard Alpert, who helps remove the bullet from his leg. Richard gives Locke his compass, saying that he won't recognize Locke the next time they see each other. Before he time-jumps again, Richard tells him that the only way to save the Island is to get the Oceanic 6 back, and that to do that, Locke will have to die. The hatch appears after the time jump, so Sawyer tries to get in and get some supplies. Faraday convinces him not to, since Desmond won't know who he is. As they all head back to the beach, Faraday notices that Charlotte's nose is bleeding and becomes concerned. He waits until everyone has gone and knocks on the hatch door. Desmond comes out and Faraday tells him that if they make it back, everyone they left behind is in danger, and the only way to help is for Desmond to go to Oxford and find Faraday's mother. Before he can explain more, he time-jumps again. Three years in the future, Desmond suddenly wakes up next to Penny on their boat, remembering this encounter. He tells Penny that they need to set sail for Oxford.
