Synopsis:
Divorce lawyers Fred and Lizzy Bellamy are murdered in their home. The investigation leads to Ann Carter, who is involved in a child custody battle with her husband Bill regarding their adopted Haitian daughter, who detectives think was molested and then sent back to Haiti. Lupo and Bernard's search for the child leads them to another couple, Eric and Miriam Johnson, who have adopted a Haitian boy, Patrick. Lieutenant Anita Van Buren gets social services involved when she begins to see patterns of neglect and abuse with regards to 12-year-old Patrick. As A.D.A.'s Michael Cutter and Connie Rubirosa try to bring the killer to justice, they are also forced to deal with the emotional side of the case and work tirelessly to safeguard the lives of the children.
