For those of you who assumed Lacey Schwimmer’s biggest mistake of 2011 would have to be that bizarre two-toned hair she was sporting during her brief tenure on Season 12 – think again.

The latest attempt by a young DWTS pro to transition from the ballroom to the pop charts is Lacey’s new single, the generically terrible (and more than a little smutty) “Love Soundz,” which will be released on June 21. The song was premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, and it’s very much in the same vein as previous crimes against music by the likes of Paris Hilton, Heidi Montag, Kim Zolciak, and the Ballas Hough Band, which has thankfully been real quiet lately. (The country career of DWTS alum Julianne Hough, on the other hand, has actually been a mild success.)

Can Lacey have a hit with this? Weirder things have happened. Her heavily Autotuned vocals leave her sounding quite a bit like Britney Spears; like her or not, Britney’s music is still all over the radio. And if they ever decide to shoot a video for “Love Soundz” (love that “edgy” spelling), she’d already have the dancing part down. But here’s hoping Lacey decides to stick with what she does best: teaching pudgy Disney kids how to rumba.
