The Evil Beet February 7, 2007
Or, you know, “released,” after Kim and Ray J had worked out the details of the royalties and marketing plan. Kim’s been formally denying the tape’s existence for some time, and claims now to have been “caught completely off-guard” but, as Fleshbot explains, was likely involved in making it available to the public.
Ray J is Brandy Norwood’s brother, and I would assume that publicity for a raunchy sex tape is actually a pleasant change of pace for the Norwood family right now. And Kim Kardashian must have been itching for a sex tape release for a while now, after watching friend Paris Hilton rocket to super-stardom after hers leaked. In December, I named Kim Kardashian as one of the top five up-and-coming “it” girls for 2007, and it looks like she means to prove me right. I like how this happened the day after the episode of Dirt — my new favorite show — aired which parodied Adrianne Curry and Chris Knight approaching a gossip mag with the idea of leaking their own sex tape.
