Speaking publicly for the first time since her separation, Kate Gosselin says she's shocked by the playboy behavior of her recent ex.

Since the stars of Jon & Kate Plus 8 announced their split in June, Jon Gosselin has wasted no time getting back into the dating scene. The father of eight has been linked to three 20-something women over the summer, one of whom is the daughter of a family friend.

"It is hurtful. It's very hurtful," Gosselin told Meredith Vieira on Today. "To be very honest, the most hurtful part is when his decisions directly affect our children. That's the hardest part for me."

Kate, who has kept a relatively low profile at home with the kids while Jon has been photographed partying in the south of France and moving into his new bachelor pad in Manhattan, still wears her wedding ring. When asked why, she said it's for her children.

"I don't want to upset them," she said. "While I've been very real and as honest as I need to be, I don't want to shock them. I've walked slowly through this with them. As they've asked questions, I've answered them."

She said she plans to remove the ring when the time is right.

Meantime, Jon was scheduled to tape a TV interview with E! this morning. It will air as an E! one-hour special tonight at 7 p.m.
