Synopsis:
Creative, imaginitive orphan Jane Eyre is brought up in her aunt's house, rejected and tormented by her cousins. She is sent away to Lowood School. Her only friend, Helen, dies in her arms but not before inspiring Jane to improve herself through education. At age 18 she gets a teaching position at Lowood. She then gets the job as governess at Thornfield Hall. The owner, Edward Rochester, opens up to Jane and she soon finds herself attracted to him. She saves him from a fire. To Jane's dismay, beautiful Blanche Ingram is interested in Rochester. But is Rochester interested in her? Mysterious Richard Mason arrives, needing help. Jane gets news that her aunt is on her death bed, asking for Jane. She goes to her, but worries about what might happen between Rochester and Blanche in her absence.
