Synopsis:
Story of singer/actor Dorothy Dandridge (1923-65), who rose to fame in the 1950s with roles in such films as "Carmen Jones" (1954), for which she was the first black woman ever nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award, and "Porgy and Bess" (1959). She died at the age of 42 after her career and personal life went into a tailspin in the early 1960s.
