Ice Cube To Star In New Series on FX

Banking on an idea that has worked for other successful shows, Ice Cube is bringing his act to the small screen in a new vengeance-style drama.

The rapper-turned-actor will star in and executive produce An Eye For An Eye, which is being developed for the FX network, according to Deadline Hollywood. The series will focus on a longtime paramedic, who, after hauling away so many victims of violent crimes, is tired of seeing people being victimized. So, he decides he’s gonna go out and whoop up on some of the culprits himself.

He quickly becomes addicted to his vigilante lifestyle and must struggle to balance his regular life and his new found passion for kicking ass. (Anyone who thinks that sounds like a mildly tamer version of Dexter, raise your hand.) However, FX has largely embraced edgy, quality original programs, so maybe the series can find a way to stand out from its brother from another mother on Showtime.

Ice Cube’s company, Cube Vision, and Jeff Kwatinetz’s Project Park developed the idea for An Eye For An Eye together and are still looking for a writer to pen the series.

Meanwhile, Cube is also executive producing the TBS series, Are We There Yet?, which is based on his 2005 movie of the same title. One hundred episodes of the comedy have been ordered, begging the question: How many road trips can one family take, anyway? Ice Cube will have a recurring role on the TBS series as well.
