Can the B-Man get any better? Of course, we love the entire crew of How I Met Your Mother, but the show's driving comedy force is Barney Stinson. Neil Patrick Harris' portrait of BS -- and no, we don't think it was just a fluke when the creators came up with those initials -- is nothing short of awesome. He made us all "suit up!" or, when offering prom dress advice to Robin and Lily, "slut up." He's brought awesome back, and now, whenever we get a little sad, we decide to be awesome instead. Just in time for the DVD release, here's a top 10 list of great season 4 moments with Barney Stinson. 10. Shelter Island episode: We can never forget the Crazy vs. Hot lecture, complete with white board and mathematical equations, that Barney did the previous season. But this one deserves runner-up prize to this season's White Board Award. Writing math formulas under the title "How Can I Have Sex with Robin Again," Barney puts it all down in writing. Using the four key factors of Vulnerable, Booze, Nostalgic and Insecure, his mathematical conclusion is infallible. "Get her drunk at Ted's wedding." 9. Little Minnesota episode: Ted has done his best to keep his rebellious little sister Heather away from lecherous Barney, and with good reason. Every year when the family Christmas card arrives, Barney has whipped up a little ditty: To the tune of "Jingle Bells" -- Pulling down her pants, yanking off my own, underneath the mistletoe I'll make your sister moan... Or to "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" -- I wish I could see her naked, I wish I could see her naked, I wish I could see her naked and down on all fours." And we won't even tell you the lyrics to "The Dreidel Song." 8.The Stinsons episode: Only Barney would invent an entire family just to impress his mom. But the whole thing starts unraveling once mom sees Ted putting the moves to her mock daughter-in-law. Oh, well, Barney knew it wouldn't last forever, especially when the kid playing his son kept trying to improvise. And of course, there's the requisite ode to Doogie Howser, MD when Barney says, "Call me crazy, but child actors were way better back in the '80s." 7. Not a Father's Day episode: This episode begins with the Cheerleader Effect, where the sum of the group is often higher than the individuals, and ends with the Not a Father group. And in between we get treated to a pun-filled episode when Barney discovers it was just a false alarm when a woman thought he might be the father of her child. Barney starts selling stuff like "Who's NOT Your Daddy?" and a greeting card with an Asian girl on it proclaiming "Because on Not a Father's Day, you get a Thai you'd actually wear." 6. The Three Days Rule episode: Only Barney could equate dating rules with the Resurrection. According to Barney, Jesus started the three day rule because he waited three days to come back to life. "Then BAM. He bursts through the back door, runs up the aisle. Everyone's totally psyched and, FYI, that's when he invented the high-five." Oh, someone's going to hell for that one. 5. Woooo! episode: What is a Woo Girl? We have to go to the Woo Girl speech Barney gives Lily as the reason this rates a top-10 ranking: "The world absolutely needs Woo Girls. If there were no Woo Girls, there would be no Girls Gone Wild, no bachelorette parties, no Las Vegas poolside bars ... the souvenir shot-glass industry would collapse, so would the body glitter industry and the stretch Hummer rental industry. Tiny cowboy hats would be worn only by tiny cowboys. And when 'Brown-Eyed Girl' would come up on the jukebox, all you would hear would be silence. But who would woo? Who would woo? Would you? Would you woo?" 4. Intervention episode: So many great moments, it's hard to nail down just one. But here it is. When the pals decide to stage an intervention, we flash back to an earlier, perhaps not quite successful group effort to help out their alcoholic friend Stuart's addiction. Barney comes chugging in with a bottle of booze. "Come on Stuart, time to unleash the big green monster ... People don't want to see Bruce Banner, they want to see the Hulk. Hulk! Hulk! Hulk! Hulk!" After Robin whispers in his ear, Barney replies, "What? That's what I get for skimming the Evite." 3. Do I Know You? episode: When Lily tells Barney he has to choose between bimbos and Robin, he says he chooses bimbos because they make him happy and feel alive. "(Bimbos) are easily confused. It's one of the thousand little things I love about them. I love their vacant, trusting stares. Their sluggish, unencumbered minds, their unresolved daddy issues ... Bimbos have always been there for me, through thick and thin, mostly thin. B-man don't do thick crust. What up." 2. The Front Porch episode: We've seen the flight suit, the penguin suit, just about every suit. But the pajama suit? How awesome is that? Especially in a episode that ponders why Marshall prefers wearing a nightshirt. Barney zings Marshall with "So, flying to Neverland with Peter and Tink, was that amazing? ... Was it nice to finally get out of that crowded bed and take Charlie to the chocolate factory?" In this hilarious episode, Marshall explores the perfection that is the nightshirt. While Barney waivers, he never forsakes the pajama suit. 1.Possimpible episode: Who hasn't agonized over the perfect resume video? Well, step aside and let Mr. Awesome take the wheel. When Robin shows the gang her pathetic resume video, Barney blows them all away with his video resume. From the explosive beginning to rocking flag-waving finale, Barney boldly goes to that spot where the possible and the impossible meet. Sing it loud "Barney Stinson, he's so awesome, he's so awesome..." Most Popular Stories
