Gossip Girl Style: Color Trend
Never mind red and green, Serena and Blair look fabulous in ketchup and mustard this holiday season.

If Serena and Blair wear a similar look within a week of each other, can we officially call it a trend? The pairing of red and yellow, a look which has been referred to as "ketchup and mustard," was seen on Gossip Girl two weeks in a row, and in my book, that makes it a trend. Not only is the color combo bold and fresh, it will translate well into your holiday wardrobe and is a nice variation on those traditional Christmas colors. On the Gossip Girl Thanksgiving episode, Serena (Blake Lively) sported a red top with a super-short skirt in a deep yellow color. Appropriate for a family holiday gathering? Of course not, but we love the concept, which is why we turn to Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) for a more family-friendly interpretation. Blair's Alice + Olivia dress featured a chocolate skirt, red top and attached yellow belt -- this yellow was the color of French's mustard while Serena's was more of a Dijon. Best of all, you can even recreate Blair's look for yourself. While the Alice + Olivia dress is no longer available in stores, there are several for sale on eBay if you hurry. Afraid to wear such bold colors? There are plenty of ways to interpret this look to make it work for you. Pair yellow pumps with black tights and a red dress, or throw on a yellow bag with a red cardigan. It's a great time to try out the ketchup and mustard look and add a little flavor to your holiday style. Most Popular Stories
