The Gossip Girl spinoff is offically dead.

Although the 1980s-set spinoff starring a young Lily Van Der Woodsen got plenty of hype, the backdoor pilot that aired as an episode of Gossip Girl last week was lukewarm at best. Which works out for The CW, which reportedly killed the spinoff before the pilot even aired.

Meantime, The CW has picked up the Melrose Place remake, along with The Beautiful Life, starring Mischa Barton, and Vampire Diaries, starring vampires.
