Golden Girl Rue McClanahan Dies

Former Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan died of a massive stroke early Thursday. She was 76.

Her rep tells People.com that she died at 1 a.m. with her family around her.

McClanahan starred as the man-hungry Southern belle Blanche Deveraux in the beloved NBC series about four women sharing a house in Miami. Betty White is now the lone remaining star of the series, which ran from 1985 to 1992.
