A comedy series that looks at the world from the point of view of four young, African-American, female best friends, following their romances, careers; high times and hard knocks. Joan is a skillful attorney on the fast track; Toni is a realtor who hopes her track will lead to a rich husband; Lynn, a perennial student and a rebel fighting for whatever cause is handy, is living rent-free with Joan while she pursues her eighth year of graduate school; and Maya is Joan's bluntly honest assistant at the law firm, a homegirl from the projects who is the only one of the four who has what they all envy: a loving husband and child. William is Joan's friend and co-worker who delights in tormenting her at every opportunity.
