Drop Dead Diva: Second Chances

Episode 6 |  Season 1 2008 - 2009 |  First Aired: 8/16/2009
Synopsis:
Jane dreams about telling Grayson about her secret and Tim Gunn appears in the dream to give Jane some confidence in her future (and possibly her wardrobe). Jane wakes up, hungover from last night’s birthday party. Fred is in Jane’s apartment, but nothing happened between him and Stacy. Jane volunteers to help give some of Deb’s things to Grayson. After a woman shows up to interview for her job, Teri is perturbed at Jane. A woman named Mary Anne Neely who knows Jane from a past case asks for her help, but is soon arrested on charges of murder. Mary Anne tells Jane her story and how she was only the driver of the getaway car, not the murderer. Grayson and Parker are supposed to work on a new case together involving Larry, a famous actor, but when the case only involved an incorrect death listing on a website, Parker leaves everything to Grayson. Fred hopes that Jane will not tell Stacy about his crush on her, but Jane is sure that Stacy already knows. Teri reminds Jane of her worth as an assistant but Jane still has no idea what she is talking about. Parker assigns Kim to Jane’s criminal trial. Jane and Kim meet with Phillip, Mary Anne’s husband, but he refuses to forgive her for duping him with a false identity. Jane looks through Deb’s belongings and finds a mysterious bracelet. Stacy expresses possible interest in Fred but does not want to move forward while Fred is playing hard to get. Grayson, Larry and the website owner meet and the matter is resolved with a simple apology. In court, Jane’s cross-examination results in a setback to her case. Larry returns to Grayson emboldened to sue all the media outlets who falsely reported his death. Grayson is annoyed but will deal with the litigation rather than bother Parker. Jane and Kim’s case hits another snag and the state tries to make a deal for a manslaughter plea. Jane advises against taking the deal, suggesting that Mary Anne takes the stand to clear her conscience. Jane and Grayson discuss their cases and Jane is star struck when Larry interrupts them. Fred sees Stacy at the office and they try to play it cool. After Grayson secures the apologies from media networks, Larry still wants to sue the comedy shows who still make fun of him. In court, Mary Anne discusses her sadness and hurt and convinces Phillip to testify on her behalf – but it’s too late, the defense had already rested the case. With Jane and Kim’s case receiving media attention, Parker starts to ready himself to face the cameras. For her closing, Jane reads a heartfelt letter that Phillip wrote to Mary Anne. Jane and Grayson discuss his case and Jane reminds Grayson that Larry’s somewhat annoying behavior might be related to a deeper meaning. Jane’s client is sentenced to community service and is reunited with her husband. Grayson and Larry meet at the cemetery to visit the graves of their loved ones. Fred shows up at Jane’s apartment, Stacy kisses him and they go out to dinner. Grayson shows up to retrieve the bracelet (it belongs to his sister) and he and Jane sit down to dinner together.
