Drop Dead Diva: Pilot

Beautiful but shallow "Price is Right" model aspirant Deb lives a great life, but after a fatal car accident she finds herself in front of Heaven's gatekeeper, Fred. After examining her life, Fred declares her a self-centered "zero" and finds no reason to return her to her previous pretty existence. Outraged, Deb hits Fred's computer and is accidentally relegated to the body of the recently deceased Jane Bingum. Deb tries to find a way out, but Fred is now her guardian angel, guiding her through her new existence in a larger frame. Jane's loyal assistant helps her get up to speed and she manages the tension between her Jane intelligence and Deb personality during a meeting with a client. Jane goes to her model friend Stacy's house and reveals the inner Deb. Jane decides to move in with Stacy, much to Fred's chagrin. After attending Deb's funeral, Jane has to cross-examine a witness and makes an error that her co-counsel could have prevented. Jane also preps a divorce case, disagreeing with her client's intentions. It is revealed that Grayson, Deb's ex-boyfriend, also works at the firm, and Jane has an emotional conversation with Grayson before he goes back to work. Jane and Stacy give the divorce client a makeover and a confidence boost, resulting in the big settlement the firm hoped she would get. For the closing in her drug case, Jane channels Deb's memories of Grayson.
