A mystery series starring Dick Van Dyke as the crime-solving doctor, Mark Sloan, who also works as a consultant for the police department. He is a widower who lives in a beach house where Steve, his policeman son, often visits. He is assisted on investigations by Amanda, a pathologist, and Dr. Jesse Travis, a young resident. Occasionally he has run-ins with Norman Briggs, the tightfisted hospital administrator.
