Synopsis:
Dexter tries to distance himself from Lila, but she insinuates that she might let his secrets slip out if he rejects her. Dexter notices that federal agents are following him, which makes returning to dispose of Jiminez's body impossible. He thinks the agents are tailing him because Lundy suspects he is the bay harbor butcher, and Dexter's worst fears are confirmed when he finds his blood slide collection missing, but after the agents escort him to Lundy's office, he learns that his slides were found in Doakes' trunk, and that he, Doakes, is their prime suspect. Lundy asks Dexter to process "Doakes'" slides. The protective detail is still following Dexter, so he sneaks out late at night to dispose of Jiminez's body, but Doakes finds Dexter there and attempts to arrest him. During their scuffle, Dexter is shot in the leg, and he locks Doakes up in the cabin where he killed Jiminez, to be dealt with later.
