The series focuses on the activities of the staff and clientele of Cheers, a Boston bar run by Sam Malone, a former relief pitcher for the Red Sox. Cheers is staffed by Carla, the cynical barmaid; Diane, a sophisticated waitress and Woody, the innocent bartender. They are joined by regulars Norm, an umemployed accountant; Cliff, a trivia obsessed letter carrier; and Frasier, a psychiatrist and former flame of Diane's.
