The series focuses on the activities of the staff and clientele of Cheers, a Boston bar run by Sam Malone, a former relief pitcher for the Red Sox. In the fourth season young midwesterner Woody Boyd joins the staff as a bartender after the death of Coach, while Sam and Diane continue to fight their feelings for one another.
