Series that explores the lives of a group of teachers at Winslow High, a high school in suburban Boston, Massachusetts. Heading the school is Principal Steven Harper, a strict believer in the school's obligation to make students smarter and better. Lauren Davis is the head of the Social Studies department and is always moving from one dilemma to the next. Other teachers and administrators include: Harvey Lipschultz, an 80-year-old history teacher who longs for the respectful students of the past; Scott Guber, the stern Vice Principal, who has a soft spot for Lauren; Kevin Riley, the handsome new football coach; Marilyn Sudor, the music teacher who is a friend of Lauren; Harry Senate, a cocky geology teacher; Marla Hendricks, the Special Education teacher, who often finds "sanity in a bottle" of medication; Louisa, the beautiful and young secretary/assistant to the Principal; and Ronnie Cooke, a disgruntled former corporate lawyer who left her practice to teach.
