Opinionated and difficult Dr. John Becker, who thinks the world is going to hell, has a medical practice in the Bronx, New York. He unleashes his views at the local diner owned by Reggie and to Jake, the blind proprietor of the local newsstand. Margaret is Becker's head nurse and Linda is a nurses' aide.
