American Idol Style: Michael Jackson-Inspired Fashion for the Top 13
The best and worst style from last night's Idol.
Matt Giraud performs in front of the judges on the eighth season of 'American Idol' -

Thanks to Michael Jackson night on American Idol, the guys got a chance to bust out their leather Nehru jackets, skinny jeans, and loads of chains. We dug Scott MacIntyre's military-inspired number, Adam Lambert pulled off a cropped blue leather coat, and Matt Giraud worked a jacket complete with snaps and zippers -- how very "Beat It" of him.
Speaking of "Beat It," Anoop Desai who sang/bastardized the MJ classic, managed to look 80s-esque but still cool in an army green pullover with a tie and white button-up. Danny Gokey wore a tweed blazer and jeans and coordinated his glasses and shirt, both the same shade of red. Seriously, let's start counting how many pairs of glasses Gokey wears this season. I don't even think he needs them. Michael Sarver and Jorge Nunez were forgettable in blazers and denim, and country boy-heartthrob Kris Allen needs some serious spicing up. Wearing jeans and a plaid short-sleeve button-down, he looked ready for his class picture. When it came to the girls, we got 16-year-old Allison Iraheta in layers and leather, looking rocker chic but still young. The ever-so-quirky Megan Joy Corkrey looked sweet but sexy in her red and white dress, accessorized with a red headband and platform heels. Lil Rounds wore a ruffled one-shoulder blouse in a blush tone -- perhaps a little too frilly for the diva in training -- and her white pants were wildly unflattering. Simon Cowell apparently agreed; he said he hated what she was wearing. Then we have Alexis Grace, who has unfortunately followed the judges' advice to sex up her image. She sang "Dirty Diana" (appropriately enough) wearing a short-shorts, one-piece jumpsuit. Tone it down any time, Alexis. Jasmine Murray sported a girly pink tunic, pastel eyeshadow, and an abundance of gold accessories including giant hoop earrings, a feather necklace, and a nugget ring. In fact, there was a surprising amount of hideous accessories on Tuesday night's show. We can only assume the episode was sponsored by Coca-Cola, Ford, and the Paula Abdul Jewelry Collection. When it came to the judges, Randy attempted to channel the King of Pop in a red leather jacket while Kara looked chic and simple in a sleeveless top with a bow at the neck. Paula, lovable train wreck that she is, wore a toga-style dress that managed to combine the feathers and sparkle of Dancing With the Stars with the pattern of your grandma's sofa. And as is to be expected, Simon looked like Simon.
