During a staged mission and CIA hearing, Sydney "quits" the organization to cover the fact that she, Jack, Vaughn, and Dixon have been recruited into a special covert branch of the CIA. But quickly she finds out that her new boss is Sloane. Their first mission is to stop a terrorist known to Nadia. Sydney's relationship with her father remains strained since she discovered he tried to cover up killing her mother, Irina. Sloane tries to get Sydney to bring Nadia back into his good graces, but she wants nothing to do with the spying life.
