During the 1961 baseball season, friends and Yankee teammates Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle compete against each other to break Babe Ruth's single-season record of 60 home runs. As the flamboyant superstar Mantle and the aloof family man Maris chased the ghost of the Babe, they found themselves caught in the glare of an unrelenting media spotlight that tested the limits of their patience and their friendship. During their summertime rivalry, Maris convinces Mantle to move in with him into a little apartment in Queens to help his hero Mantle stop drinking.
