DVD: Sales Watch

Laremy Legel

Last week I looked at the top five sellers in the DVD world , but this week I thought it would be more interesting to take a gander down the list at television titles of note. Television DVDs offer a great chance to knock out eight months of a season in a few days, without commercials, and so they are obviously becoming extremely popular. They also offer the opportunity to become a fan of a show you haven't watched that's getting good buzz. Here's a few I'd consider renting or buying if I were you.

Fox's Pris Break5. Prison Break - Season One
When I first saw Prison Break teased last year I thought the premise alone was silly talk. Now that I've seen a few episodes this year I'll admit that it has good acting and an interesting plot progression. That's enough for me.

NBC's The Office4. The Office - Season Two
I thought I'd never love this series again after the British version, but the Americans have thrown a whole different feel out. The show really gets good here in season two, so if you loved the original BBC version and have snubbed this, take a look.

Sci-Fi's 'Battlestar Galactica'3. Battlestar Galactica - Season 2.5 (Episodes 11-20)
People approach me all the time urging me to watch Battlestar Galactica (MaryAnn opines here). It's slightly disturbing actually; this series has some highly dedicated fans. The only issue I would take with this DVD is that it's only ten episodes. It's also priced pretty cheap, though, so I'll let them off with a warning.

Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore in CW's 'Gilmore Girls'2. Gilmore Girls - Complete Sixth Season (6pc)
I'm a little ashamed to admit I've watched and enjoyed this show on a few occasions. It has great music, great dialogue, it's cute. Thankfully I've avoided a full-scale addiction or else I'd have to turn in my "man" card.

Terry O'Quinn in the ABC drama 'Lost'1. Lost - The Complete Second Season
This disc is ranked 14th on Amazon, and I think a bunch of Lost fans are skipping the episodes in favor of getting secrets in a condensed version. I can't say that I blame them -- that show has more cliffhangers than a Friday soap opera.
