This debut could easily be called Cowbell Overload and have the same effect. Sure, it’s the record that contains “Mississippi Queen,” but Mountain’s hard-hitting sludge/blues/boogie deserves to be checked out in depth. The band sounds massive, with dirty fuzzy leads repeatedly slapping you in the face and singer Leslie West sounding like a hard rock wizard. – Jon Pruett
